Programs for Kindergarten & First Grade

Ages 5-7

Our Pre-Level programs are fun-filled classes for young school-age children. The classes are more structured and age appropriate technique is taught while maintaining play through songs and games.

 

PRE-BALLET

45 minute weekly class        1 recital dance

Pre-Ballet is a program for our kindergarten and first graders who are 5-7 years old. The music for this class is fun and familiar to them and expands on the techniques learned by our younger classes. We do some warming up, stretching, progressions across the room (including skips, kicks and basic turning skills) all while learning correct terminology and musicality.

 

PRE-JAZZ/TAP

45 minute weekly class        1 recital dance

Students in Pre-Jazz/Tap are introduced to the beginning fundamentals of Broadway-style jazz and tap in this 2 year program. In jazz, we explore the concepts of isolation, opposition and using the upper and lower body in unison. Tap work focuses on rhythm development and musicality while learning how to use the 2 parts of the tap shoe independently. The recital dance alternates between jazz and tap each year.   A ballet class is highly recommended in conjunction with Pre-Jazz/Tap.

 

PRE-HIP-HOP

45 minute weekly class        1 recital dance

In Pre-Hip-Hop, children are introduced to the exciting world of hip-hop dance through exercises, games and activities. Basic movement elements are also included to aid in muscle and coordination development, as well as help with overall technique and musicality. This program builds classroom skills and teamwork utilizing songs, games and lesson plans to encourage creativity and the joy of movement to upbeat, contemporary pop music. A ballet or Acro class is highly recommended in conjunction with Pre-Hip-Hop.

 

PRE-ACRO

45 minute weekly class        1 recital dance

Pre-Acro is our entry level acrobatics class for young children. AcroDance combines beginner tumbling skills such as forward and backward rolls, headstands and cartwheels with basic dance movements. This class is great for strength-building and development of full-body coordination. A ballet class is highly recommended in conjunction with Pre-Acro.
