Guest Faculty - Ballet, Pointe
Janine Parker is an artist in-residence in the Williams College Dance Department where she primarily teaches ballet technique and history and co-directs CoDa, the contemporary dance ensemble. Janine has been teaching for thirty years, enjoying a long affiliation with the Boston Ballet School, as faculty member, Assistant Principal, and Associate Principal. Previously, she ran the Children's Dance Extension Division at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts. Once in Western Massachusetts, Janine served as Artistic Director for Pioneer Valley Ballet for two years before founding and directing The Ballet School at Bement, an afterschool program in Deerfield, MA; in 2007 she joined the Williams College Dance Department. Janine danced with various ballet and modern companies in Massachusetts, and continued to perform character roles when she retired from dance. She has written about ballet and dance extensively for The Boston Phoenix, The Boston Globe, The Arts Fuse, and The Berkshire Eagle, and co-wrote Boston Ballerina: A Dancer, A Company, An Era, the memoirs of her colleague Laura Young, a longtime principal dancer with Boston Ballet.
